The Academic Council of the NATIONAL LAW ACADEMY is a collegial governing body formed for a term of five years, the composition of which is approved by the order of the rector of the NLA. The subject of consideration of the Academic Council is the activity of the institution of higher education and the implementation of the state policy in the field of education and science in accordance with the Statute of the NLA. Decisions of the Academic Council come into force after their approval by the order of the rector of NLA.
Its positions include rector, vice-rectors, heads of structural units, scientific secretary, chief accountant. The Academic Council also includes elected representatives.
The Academic Council performs a number of important functions to comprehensively ensure the activities of NLAs.
- Determines the strategy and perspective directions of development of educational, scientific and innovative activity of the Academy;
- Develops and submits to the conference of the labor collective the draft Statute of the Academy, as well as the decision on making changes and additions to it;
- Defines the system and approves procedures for internal quality assurance of higher education;
- Approves educational programs and curricula for each level of higher education and specialty;
- Makes decisions on the organization of the educational process, determines the terms of study at the appropriate levels;
- Approves the sample and procedure for preparation of its own document on higher education, regulations on the procedure and grounds for its issuance to graduates, as well as samples, procedure for preparation, procedure and grounds for issuance of joint and double diplomas to graduates;
- Approves the main directions of research and innovation;
- Evaluates the scientific and pedagogical activities of structural units;
- Determines the criteria for granting permission to scientific and pedagogical employees of the Academy, who are doctors of philosophy (candidates of sciences), for scientific supervision of postgraduate students and grants such permission;
- Establishes the features of the Academy’s management that contribute to the development and improvement of the quality of its educational activities and competitiveness, attraction of additional financial resources;
- 11. Consider other issues of the Academy’s activity in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and the Charter of the Academy.
